AUTOBOT PROTECTOBOT LEADER
HOT SPOT
(1986: Generation 1: Protectobot)

from the collection of Shawn Keaton
Streetwise is not an accessory of Hot Spot.
He is only pictured to display the function of his alternate modes.

from the collection of Shaughan Keaton

Hot Spot came with:
2 large black guns
2 black "hoses"
2 foot plates, marked "L" and "R" respectively
1 black waist shield
2 black chest shields, 2 foot plates, marked "L" and "R" respectively
2 black fists, 2 foot plates, marked "L" and "R" respectively

Hot Spot forms the torso of Defensor. He is one of the five Protectobots.

Be careful of the many bootlegs that have shiny, low quality plastic parts and "white-backed" stickers. The original Protectobots had metal and platic versions, with higher quality plastic than the bootlegs. There were also unproduced G2 Protectobots in different color schemes, which are extremely rare.

In Europe in 1990 and 1991, the Transformers Classics line was launched. These were the first re-issues, consisting of Autobot Cars, Throttlebots, Scramble City combiners, four Triple-Changers, the Dinobots (Swoop was never released in Europe), and Optimus Prime. The toys themselves were identical except that there were no rub signs, and the indents were filled in on the combiners, Triple-Changers, and Throttlebots. The classics molds were again modified for G2, (and RID, and Armada, and Universe for Bruticus). The Throttlebots' rub signs were replaced with regular sigils like Bumblebee and Cliffjumper had in 1984. The Throttlebots were rereleased in 1991.

Click on images to enlarge. Hot Spot had two different tech specs: one from his individual package and one from the gift set.

Please keep in mind that when viewing the large tech specs and instructions to allow a reasonable amount of time for your computer to load these very large files. You can right click on the booklet cover and choose "save target as" if you would like to download the instructions.
